On a warm Tuesday evening in July 2020, The Drewett family gathered at home for a typical family dinner. Walker, his brothers, parents, and Natalie, the still kinda new girlfriend of the oldest brother, Patton, joined in. It was a night filled with laughter, wine, and good vibes.

Little did everyone know, Natalie, the girlfriend (and now wife) to Patton, had a sneaky plan in mind. She sent a text message to her old coworker and good friend Rachel, who lived 1,750 miles away in New York City. The message was like a spark of fate, igniting something unexpected.

A compelling message, it was! But hold on… How could this (Texas) New York City girl and a guy from Austin, Texas, ever cross paths?

So, as expected… Time ticked on with no meeting of the future couple.

A year later, on July 14, 2021, Natalie's matchmaking dreams seemed distant for everyone except herself. She remained hopeful, like a secret guardian of destiny.

Then came Labor Day Weekend in early September… A scorching hot day perfect for college football and cold tailgate beer. Walker, a die-hard Texas Longhorns fan, was at the stadium, intrigued but unsuspecting of the grander game fate (and Natalie) had planned for him.

Meanwhile, Natalie, Patton, and Rachel were gearing up for the highly anticipated meeting of Walker and Rachel. Patton graciously parked the car a good 2 miles away, ensuring the girls had a healthy sweat upon their tailgate arrival.

And there she was! Walker spotted Rachel in her denim romper amid the sea of faces, and locked in!

Immediately, conversation flowed effortlessly, as it always does with Rachel!

Within minutes, Walker determined he would not be joining his buddies at their standard seats and instead would be joining Patton, Natalie, and Rachel on the other side of the stadium.

And so it began…

From that moment on, Walker and Rachel have been inseparable. Not even the distance between Austin and New York City could hold them back.

Fast forward nearly two years later, high up in the mountains of Telluride, Colorado. With families hidden among the aspen trees, Walker dropped to one knee, and with trembling excitement, asked Rachel to marry him.

“Yes!”

Walker and Rachel couldn’t be more thrilled for this next chapter of their life together to begin, and are so excited to celebrate their love with family and friends on 10.26.2024.
